BenchAlgo vs QuantConnect for backtesting

Maintained by Patrik Kelemen, founder of BenchAlgo. Last reviewed .

Short answer

QuantConnect is an open-source, multi-asset platform you program in Python or C# and can trade live from. BenchAlgo is narrower: it tests futures strategies on ES, NQ and GC with fixed fills and costs, and scores them across twelve screens. Choose by whether you need a platform to build on or a strict test.

Side by side

QuantConnect facts come from its own documentation and pricing page, checked on 3 November 2026. Check the pages linked below before you rely on a detail.

Which one to use

  • Use QuantConnect if you want to program your own engine logic, trade many asset classes, run locally or go live today.
  • Use BenchAlgo if you trade ES, NQ or GC, want an AI to write the code, and want the verdict to come from checks that neither you nor the strategy can soften.

A note on our limits: BenchAlgo cannot place orders yet, and you never see raw prices. If either of those matters today, it is not the right tool for that job.
